Summerfest!

For those of you who don't know, Milwaukee prides itself on its annual "World's Largest Music Festival" called Summerfest. It's a pretty crazy undertaking, 10+ days of performers on multiple stages at the fest grounds. If you haven't been, I think you should give it a shot at least once to say you've tried it. However, I would recommend that you go for the purpose of a show in the Marcus Amphitheater. You get your tickets ahead of time, your ticket gets you admission into the festival (which costs $17 otherwise), and you have guaranteed seats. The Amphitheater is reserved for the 'biggest' performers each night, so it's probably who you'd want to see anyway. That being said, there are plenty of other great acts on the other stages all throughout the day. Only problem with those is that it's basically first come, first served, and that proved to be a problem in terms of crowd control for a few of the groups this year. I think I'm just getting too old for that shit, so I was perfectly content going for my shows where I knew I had a designated place. ;) Speaking of which, I got to go TWICE this year!

A few months ago, I agreed to go see Pitbull with my friend from work, so we had our tickets for quite awhile. When we first got them, it was said that Ke$ha was going to be performing with him as well (they're on tour together), but sadly, she wasn't there for our show. I'll get to that in a bit, but that was a bit of a disappointment for me. The day of the show, my mom came down to help me out because took my damn 'broken' car back to Colby for me while I drove (and continue to drive) their van around while it got fixed. Originally, she wasn't planning to go see Pitbull with us, but one of my friend's sisters backed out, so we had the ticket handy. Mom and I hung out for a few hours and then met the other girls at the Summerfest grounds. We grabbed a little grub and then headed to the Amphitheater. I was slightly disappointed right off the bat because it was supposed to start at 7:30pm, but it didn't get going until 8:00. The group call Far East Movement performed for probably 35-40 minutes, and then once they left stage, there was like an HOUR of time with nothing happening. No music to entertain us, no act in between, nothing. My guess is that is where Ke$ha would have performed, but it would've been kinda nice if they could have moved Pitbull up or something so we didn't just sit there and twiddle our thumbs. He finally came out at 10:00. I actually really enjoyed him when he performed, but I was a little tainted by the long wait. I also found it annoying that just as I was getting into a song he was singing, he'd stop in the middle and switch to a different song. It was kinda odd! Overall, slightly disappointing considering what we paid for our seats and everything, but it was still a good time for the most part. Below are a few pics and videos from that experience, and then I'll fill you in on the even more exciting concert that me and mom attended on the following Tuesday! (I tried to pick songs you might recognize:).
Me and mama at the grounds!

 Pitbull!
Me and the ladies I went with (besides mama)!

"I Know You Want Me"

"Feel This Moment"

Let me tell ya, going to see Pitbull on a Sunday night may not have been the best idea, simply because it got done quite late and then I had to work the next morning. Still pretty worth it though. ;) The next two days, I had to work while mama was here, but we got to hang out during the evenings, so that was perfect! On Tuesday night, we went to Summerfest to see Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees, and New Kids on the Block. Ummm.... Boy band heaven!!!! A couple years ago, I saw NKOTB with Backstreet Boys (here's that post), and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to, so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed with this concert! Our seats were pretty good, they were cheaper than Pitbull, and I love every act that was performing! As quite a stark contrast, they started promptly at 7:30, and everything was done by 10:20. Guess they thought we all wanted to go home early! ;) As you would probably expect, it was friggin' awesome. I had such a good time!! I think mom did too. Only downfall was a really drunk chick next to us singing realllllllly offkey and loud to almost every song (pardon her voice in some of the videos, ha!), but other than that, totally awesome. I'd go see it all over again if I could! Here are a few shots and videos from that night!

 Boyz II Men

"I'll Make Love to You" (Don't mind the annoyingly off-key girl singing in most of the following videos.) :-/

"End Of The Road" (She's REALLY offkey and loud next to me in this one. Sad, since I love this song!)
Don't mind the big red light in our face, ha! (Now onto 98 Degrees!)

"I Do (Cherish You)"

"Because of You" (My favorite 98 Degrees song!)

 98 Degrees
A couple of the NKOTB guys (Danny and Joey) up by us. See the video below!

"Tonight" (You'll see that Danny and Joey are right up in our area here! My reaction to realizing it is kinda funny;).
"Please Don't Go, Girl" (NKOTB)

There ya have it, folks. This doesn't even come close to the amount of videos I took during the two shows (ha), but just wanted to give you a sample of how fun it was. All the acts at the NKOTB show rocked my socks off. Hope I get the chance to see them again!:)
